Acquiring Meerkat

To download Meerkat for Statamic 2, please visit the Statamic Marketplace and download the files here: https://statamic.com/addons/stillat/meerkat. Once your addon files have downloaded, proceed with the remaining steps.

Meerkat for Statamic 2 is no longer being updated in the Stillat Account Center. All existing installations should be updated to the latest version for Statamic 2.

Copying Files

After you have downloaded the Meerkat addon, copy the contents of the Meerkat directory to site/addons/Meerkat directory. After this, you will have to "refresh" your addons by running the following command:

php please addons:refresh

Alternatively, you can refresh your addons from the Control Panel. To do this, activate the "Addons" menu item and click "Refresh" in the upper-right hand corner.

Because of how Meerkat is integrates itself into many of the default Statamic features, there are a number of files that need to exist in order for Meerkat to function properly. Meerkat will handle the installation of these files itself the first time that Statamic is invoked after install, but if you encounter errors on a fresh install you might want to check that these files exist (all paths are relative to your site's root directory):

settings/addons/meerkat.yaml
settings/formsets/meerkat.yaml

Permissions

Meerkat needs full write access to the following directory:

  • site/content/comments

Because of Statamic's own requirements, you should be good to go on this one. However, if you experience issues early on in the installation process this is a good place to check.
